Discover The Wimbish House in Atlanta, GA, a historic 1906 Midtown landmark with elegant reception rooms, a ballroom & space for up to 250 guests
The Wimbish House offers couples a distinctive historic wedding venue at the corner of Peachtree and 14th streets in Midtown Atlanta. Prominent Atlanta attorney William A. Wimbish commissioned the residence, and noted architect W.T. Downing designed the French Renaissance Revival home, which was completed in 1906. Today, the beautifully restored property is recognized as a national, state, and city landmark and retains many of the architectural details that give the house its turn-of-the-century character.
Inside, spacious rooms with high ceilings, hardwood floors, tall archways, columns, antique crystal chandeliers, period furnishings, grand pianos, and fireplaces create an elegant backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. Formal reception rooms flow into the dining room, sunroom, and ballroom, which was added in the 1920s. Couples can accommodate up to 150 guests for a ceremony and reception with everyone seated together in the ballroom, while other configurations can accommodate larger celebrations. The property can host up to 250 guests for a reception-only event.
Couples choose from The Wimbish House’s approved full-service caterers but can bring their own alcohol, which helps provide flexibility when planning food and bar service. The Midtown location also makes the venue convenient for out-of-town guests, with numerous hotels, parking facilities, restaurants, and public transportation nearby. The Atlanta Woman’s Club owns The Wimbish House, and revenue generated by the venue helps support the club’s charitable work.
