Discover The Carmichael House in Jackson, GA, a historic Victorian wedding venue with gardens, outdoor ceremonies, an event hall & lodging.
The Carmichael House gives couples the opportunity to celebrate at one of Jackson, Georgia’s distinctive historic properties. Completed in 1898 for businessman and buggy maker J.R. Carmichael and his family, the Queen Anne Victorian mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home retains original architectural details including stained glass, detailed woodwork, mantels, tall windows, 12-foot ceilings, fireplaces, and multiple porches. The original barn, cottage, and smokehouse further preserve the character of the property.
Couples can choose from several ceremony settings throughout the landscaped grounds. The gazebo and lawn near the mansion are popular outdoor options, while the veranda works well for smaller ceremonies. Gardens, a pond, fountain, flower-lined trellis, and mature landscaping provide additional backdrops for wedding photography. For the reception, the climate-controlled Event Hall accommodates up to 200 guests and features a floor-to-ceiling stacked-stone fireplace, permanent bar, chandeliers, and a loft overlooking the main floor.
Wedding rentals include dedicated getting-ready spaces, with a bridal suite inside the historic mansion and groom’s quarters in the cottage. Couples can bring licensed and insured caterers and other outside wedding professionals, and the venue allows couples to supply their own alcohol when it is served by a licensed and insured bartender. The Inn on Second, located directly across the street, can also provide overnight accommodations for up to eight guests and an additional bridal suite option, making The Carmichael House well suited for couples who want to extend their celebration beyond the wedding itself.
